Bumped and rubbed on ends of spine, spine faded, corners bowed and rubbed, boards lightly smudged, scattering of pinpoint black marks on fore edge, pages darkened, previous owner's name in ink on ffep and shadow of signature carried through to fly-title page, note regarding Robert Service hand-written in ink on title page ("Died Sept. 12, 1958 at the age of 82 at his home in France"), second-last blank page removed. Overall - good. A great reading copy.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Good/No DJ. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.
Synopsis
Originally published in 1916, Rhymes Of A Red Cross Man is a collec tion of poems based on Robert Service’s experience driving a Red Cross ambulance in France during World War I. Some selections include "The Fool," "Our Hero," "My Mate," "The Convalescent," "Wounded," "The Man From Athabaska," "Carry On," "Bill the Bomber," "The Odyssey of ’Erbert ’Iggins," and "The Stretcher Bearer."
