Thomas Paine, a patriot and author during the Revolutionary War, wrote pamphlets such as "Common Sense" and the "American Crisis" series, letting people know independence was the only choice, the right choice. Paine was part of the French Revolution and wrote "The Rights of Man," primarily to defend the criticisms of Edmund Burke. Paine believed there is a natural right of the people and the principle of majority rule. The goal of the state is freedom and independence; he asserts happiness is the natural right of all people. This beautiful copy of "The Rights of Man" is historical and highly collectible. Note: We are a well-established, well-respected, ethical book dealer in business since 1991. Synopsis

Rights of Man (1791), by Thomas Paine, posits that popular political revolution is permissible when a government does not safeguard its people, their natural rights, and their national interests. It defends the French Revolution against Edmund Burke's attack in Reflections on the Revolution in France (1790).
