Rip Van Winkle by Washington Irving - 1905

London and New York: William Heinemann, Doubleday, Page & Co, 1905 A good copy of the first Rackham edition in the original cloth binding with tipped-in frontispiece and 50 tipped-in illustrations bound at the rear. The binding is in good condition with light edge wear (including a little on the spine joints) and some pulling and light fraying to spine. The top corner of the front board has a small bump; remaining corners with light wear. There is a white mark on the back board. Page edges and endpapers are green matching the stock paper used to mount the plates. Endpapers are clean with the occasional small mark. Contents with half title; frontispiece; title page; introduction; text 57 pp; illustration; and 50 plates bound at the rear. The title page is spotty and there is some light spotting and occasional light marking in the gutter to the text. The plates are in lovely clean condition. Tissue guards have spotting mostly at the top. One guard has a tear and another has a small nibble at the top. Please enquire if you would like to see further images.
