New York, 1927. First Edition. First printing. Octavo (20cm); maroon cloth covered boards titled in gilt on the cover and spine; dustjacket; spine ends gently nudged; Fine. The dustjacket is unclipped (priced $1.75) with minor nicks along the extremities; toning to the spine; minor splits at the flaps; Very Good only.
This is the author's first published play, the plot revolves around Hannibal's attempt to capture Rome during the Second Punic War. Inspiration for the silent film The Private Life of Helen of Troy directed by Alexander Korda and also Jupiter's Darling, a 1955 musical romance film directed by George Sidney starring Esther Williams as the Roman woman Amytis and Howard Keel as Hannibal.
