A just about Fine edition with some rubbing to the bottom edges and corners in a Very Good+, little chipped dust jacket; In 1815, fifteen-year-old Robert Fulton was apprenticed to a locksmith in Philadelphia. A few years later, he changed his career and set out to invent a steamboat. After many failed attempts, Fulton finally created the first working steamboat in 1814. This event changed the face of transportation and ushered in the age of the steamboat. Fulton was a pioneer in the field of maritime engineering and is considered one of the most influential figures in American history. His life and work are detailed in Robert Fulton: a Biography, written by Philip and Cynthia Owen.; B & W Illustrations; 8vo; 371 pages .
