Cloth lettered in gilt on the spine (sunned, and a little rubbed and marked); half-title and last page (a blank) unevenly offset, with the text paper uniformly lightly tanned; a very good copy with the dustwrapper slightly marked and torn, and chipped at the foot of the spine. See Kirkpatrick ('A Bibliography of Virginia Woolf') A25a. The first impression was 'Published 25 July 1940; 2530 copies printed. 12s. 6d.. There was a second impression of 1130 copies in August 1940 and a third of 1010 in November 1940'.
