Charleston, S.C.: Walker, Evans & Cogswell, Printers, 1881. Softcover. Near Fine. First edition. Small octavo. 138pp., with a color plate of the regiment's battle flag at the front. Light green printed paper wrappers. Two small tears at the spine ends, light soiling to the rear wrap, else near fine. A scarce contemporary history by one the regiment's commanders, Lieutenant-Colonel Walker. Organized at Camp Marion, near Georgetown, South Carolina, the unit began its service in August 1861 and quickly gained a reputation as a well-disciplined regiment. They fought in skirmishes and major battles throughout the Confederate States and surrendered on April 26, 1865. A handsome copy in the original wraps.
