Professionally rebound in red cloth and hand-made marble paper, has a hand tooled black leather label, The mareble paper has streaks of red. yellow, maroon and white with small random grey spheres, the design emulating the firebox. The frontis shows a scene from a railway platform in Chicago in 1870 with a woman in a crinoline dress, an Indian wearing a feathered headess, people in top hats and roughly dressed country folk. There are 16 other b/w illustrations, 10pp. introduction then text pages 312 to 590. Ex-library with the usual stamps but it also has new endpapers.
