John Wakeman founded a distinguished poetry magazine in Ireland in 1999 and, when he died in March 2018, Michael D. Higgins, then President of the Irish Republic, said that 'over the period 199-2014, the SHOP was recognised as one of the most beautiful poetry journals in the world'.
