A few old pencilled corrections to the text; slight musty odor; light scuffing to the binding.. 8vo,. Illustrated with a frontispiece portrait and ten original unmounted albumen photographs. Some copies were issued with thirty images; some as here; and some with non-photographic illustrations.. Inscribed with the kind regards of the Author, Sept. 4 / 72. Preface: "This volume is not published in its present form for public sale, but designed as a souvenir to personal friends." It appeared the same year as Jules Verne's Around the World in 80 Days (which recounts the fictional voyage of the similarly named Phileas Fogg). The text is as printed in the Cleveland Leader, in a single column, with datelines. Fogg travelled by train to Salt Lake City where he interviewed Brigham Young, predicting the demise of Mormonism within ten years.
