Binding is slightly shaky. Boards have mild edge wear with slight rubbing to surfaces. Soft crushing to spine ends. Mild tanning to spine and edges. Unclipped jacket has moderate edge wear with chips, tears and creasing. Dark rubbing overall. Light staining to panels.

Textured maroon cloth over boards; gilt rules, lettering and ornaments to the spine and front board, untrimmed page edges, top edge gilt. Replete with Edmunds' lovely illustrations. Light bump to tips, else, no other flaws to extremities. Contents remain bright, clean, and unmarked with tight, sound binding; very good+. A lovely, quite uncommon, edition of this venerable work of poetry.

The spine has separated and while there are loose pages and the binding itself is precarious, all is present and remains clean and bright..
