MP3 Audio CD. Frank Stockton is known mostly for her children?s stories ? his fairy tales collected under the title Ting-a-Ling are still very popular with children -, but Rudder Grange proves that Stockton?s talent is as multi-faceted as his characters: this novel is the first book by Stockton that was dedicated to adult audiences and it is also the novel that established him as an excellent writer of humorous stories. The title is actually the name of a canal boat ? the one that the principal characters, young and naïve Euphemia, her spouse and Pomona, their maid chose for their inexpensive summer residence. Recounted in first person singular by Euphemia?s husband, the story of the novel is practically a series of sketches, a succession of adventures full of funny and unexpected twists and events told in a humorous style.Rudder Grange was first published in 1879 in series in Scribner?s Monthly, one of the most prestigious and most popular literary periodicals in America at the time.
