About This Item

Albany, New York: Luther Tucker & Son, 1860. Engraved title page reads: Illustrated Annual Register of Rural Affairs, for 1858-9-16, With 450 Engravings. Annual publication (this book contains three years of issues) geared to the Victorian 'gentleman farmer', with a lot of practical advice for any farming enterprise, but with emphasis on aesthetics, expensive machinery, and growing attractive gardens - a bit of a fantasy book for city-dwellers dreaming of a romantic country home. Fair condition, covers rubbed with heavy wear to corners and spine ends, old hinge repairs with clear flexible tape, text block sound but not tight, pencil diagrams on rear free endpapers, pages clean with occasional light finger soil, no names or other markings.. Hard Cover. Fair. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
