THE FIRST EXTENSIVE ARTICLE PUBLISHED IN AMERICA . . ON THE JAPANESE RAPE OF NANJING, IN DECEMBER 1937 . . . WRITTEN BY A LONG-TIME AMERICAN MISSIONARY IN NANJING . . AND DIRECTOR OF THE Y.M.C.A. This is an exceptionally RARE primary resource, reporting to the world the actual eye-witness account of Japanese brutality in Nanjing from December 1938 through January 1939. . The shocking truth was hard to believe, many Americans question the truthfulness of the article. Of course the article was 100% true. . Fitch read his diary and told John Maloney the Nanjing Rape story. Maloney had worked earlier as a staff member at the Shanghai Y.M.C.A., where Fitch was the director. Maloney published the article in "Ken" Magazine. It shocked the world ! . Fitch spent 80 years as a Missionary in China, he was also very was fluent in Chinese. He was born of missionary parents in China in 1883, and served as director of various Y.M.C.A. [Young Men's Christian Association] throughout north China. . He was resident Y.M.C.A. director in Nanjing, and friends with Dr. Sun Yat-sen, Premier Tong Shao-yi, and later Mao Tse-tung & Zhou En-lai, to mention just a few of the famous people he communicated with. . *** A THIRD ESSAY :"THE JAPANESE VERSION" OF THE "RAPE, MURDER AND BURNING OF NANJING" . Article title: "JAPANESE TROOPS GENTLY SOOTHE THE REFUGEES: Harmonious Atmosphere of Nanjing Develops Enjoyably." Extracted from a Shanghai newspaper article, January 8, 1938 . This article from Japanese military command disgracefully try to diffuse the facts of their brutality, murder, rape and burning of Nanjing from December 1938 to January 1939. The article has no credibility in view of the above two articles by eyewitness foreign missionaries and teachers at Jinling College. . ***. REFERENCES: . George A.
