Based on his reading of the account he surmised that when the Pyramid was completed to its fiftieth course, i.e. to the level of the top of the Grand Gallery, which was also the floor of the Kings Chamber, it would have made an excellent observatory." CONDITION Brown bds with Black ruled design and bright Gilt tooled detailing (light rubbed cloth which is just starting at spine ends, white mark to rear and smudge to front) pp 323 with with 8 illus and publishers list to rear. Salem MA: Marine Research Society, 1922. 3 volume set. First edition. Publication dates - Volume 1-1922, Volume 2 - 1924 and Volume 3 -1928. Very good condition set. Common to all volumes - NOT ex library books or remainders. The books are tightly bound and square. The pages are notation and defect free. Volume 1 has a some very light damp staining to the front cover - it is light and does not affect the volume in any way except visually. All volumes are profusely illustrated. The front hinge on volume 1 is a little weak, but it is not cracked. The corners on all volumes are fairly sharp. All the board show very light color fading. Light tanning to the end pages. A very valuable reference.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Collectible Very Good/No Dust Jacket. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall.

Number 1549 of a limited edition.A fort was built near the mouth of the Moose River on James Bay North East Ontario, Canada, by Charles Bayly, governor of the Hudson's Bay Company, in the early 1670s. In the struggle between the English and French in Canada, the fort changed hands several times and shortly after 1696 was destroyed. In 1730 the company built a post close to the ruins of the original fort. This post has been in continuous operation to the present day.
