T.e.g. Author's edition, limited to one hundred and fifty signed copies. Frontispiece portrait. Thistle edition from new plates by De Vinne. Drawings and photographs with printed tissue guards. Binding slightly rubbed with a few smudges, spine cloth has minor split at toe, shadow of bookplate on the pastedown, front inner hinge shows a bit of strain, else very good. A salesman's sample book, or dummy, for this projected set of eight volumes. Two page prospectus, sample pages of text, fifteen samples of the plates of drawings and photographs that liberally illustrate the complete set, printed on Japan paper with three near fine representative gilt decorated and lettered spine examples affixed to rear pastedown. Scarce. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall.
