About This Item

Random House, 1953. Hardcover. Very Good/Good. 8x5x1. William Reusswig. Vintage Landmark Hardback Cloth Cover Book with Dust Jacket and Author Letter. Book itself is in Very Good condition with a tight binding and mostly clean crisp pages. It appears that there was a name plate at one time that was on the first end page which has been removed but you can see the tap remnants- also there is a small "K" written in the upper right hand corner of the same page- NO other writing or markings inside or outside of the book. Book includes the "Dear Young Reader" letter by the author provided to members of the "Young Readers of America" club. Letter shows some creasing and wear to the outside edges. Outside cloth covers are clean with some corner and edge wear. Dust Jacket is in Good condition with some heavier wear to the back cover and some smaller missing pieces. Some definite edge chipping to include some missing pieces primarily to the top and bottom of the outside spine and the outside bottom corner of the back cover. Dust Jacket is now covered by a new clear mylar cover. Book has come from a private collection. Landmark Books and World Landmark Books are accurate, in-depth stories for young people in the 9-15 year old range. These living histories were written by award-winning authors or by men and women who experienced the events first hand. Written during the 1950's and 1960's and illustrated either with two-color drawings or clear photographs, the books are informative, enjoyable, and well worth reading and collecting. Landmark Book #32. The story of Sam Houston and the birth of the state of Texas.
