Half black morocco, brown cloth sides, spine titled in gilt; binding square and tight, corners bumped and showing, hinges starting, 5-panel spine is lacking the panel at the foot. Gazette Bindery, Sterling Illinois binder's ticket on front paste-down. Printed slip "Cornell College, Thirty-First Commencement, June 15-21, 1888" laid in. Binding in Good only condition, contents Very Good. This volume contains 20 issues of the Cornell College Catalogue, 1861-1880, inclusive, bound in one volume. Each catalog lists the Boards of Trustees, Faculty, Students listed by class, gender and primary department of study, list of Course of Studies, and facts and figures about Cornell College and its financial status. Beginning in the mid 1870s, the Catalogues run period advertising for goods and services of interest to college students. Located in Mount Vernon, Iowa, Cornell college has been changing lives and changing educational norms since 1853. It's website notes that Cornell College was the first college west of the Mississippi to grant women the same rights and privileges as men, and, in 1858, to award a degree to a woman. Cornell College was among the first to recognize the science of education in 1872 when it began offering education courses, which are listed in the Catalogues bound in this Sammelband.
