San Bernardino Free Public Library (California) Book Mark, circa 1950. 6.5" x 2" light green oak tag paper, black imprinting. Diagonal slits at top for hanging. Age toning toward the top and bottom, and the name "Diana" is inked in script on the reverse; penciled in on the reverse is the number 73566. Maybe that was Diana's phone number. Otherwise, about Near Fine. Shown on the obverse, after the classic and traditional tips for treating books well - remember how the librarian would hit you on the knuckles with a ruler if you dog-eared a page ? - is the address of the Main Branch - 587 E Street - and its telephone number, which was TUxedo 44-1183. Apparently, eight digits were necessary instead of seven at that time, though the same is not true of the branch libraries listed further down, which had the standard seven, all of them also with the Alphabetic mnemonic for the first two numbers (TUrner in their case). On the reverse are suggestions for kinds of books to visit the library for. Not fancy, but a nice little piece of ephemera, in sharp condition. - Lsmph
