About This Item
Falcon Press, 1977. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. Hardcover. PRESENTATION COPY, signed by the author in Riyadh, December, 1980. Malin Basel was born in Sweden, and she moved to Saudi Arabia in 1968 with her husband. Because of restrictions on opportunities for women, she began an artistic career. She painted local scenes showing the contrasts between ancient Muslim lifestyle and modern encroachments, as well as the effects of vivid natural light and shadows. "A delightful book with some 80 pages of coloured acrylic paintings and black and white drawings, accompanied by poems written by the artist" (jacket). Octavo. Brown cloth-covered boards with title in white to front cover. Aqua dust jacket with painting on front panel and title in white on front and spine panels. Pages show light smudging, but are otherwise clean. 84 pages. MIDEAST/5202.
