Twelve tipped-in illustrations in color by Charles Robinson, with captioned tissue guards. (Lacking tissue guard at page 66 and marginal closed tears on the tissue guard at page 80) Many textual illustrations and pictorial endpapers, all by Robinson. Aside from the fault with two of the tissue guards and a bit of wear at the corners, this is a near fine copy of the First American Edition.

Fully illustrated throughout with 16 tipped in colour plates, pictorial title page, plus 25 full page and 100 smaller line drawings. A hint of browning to the blank endpapers but generally a very clean and bright copy in the original publishers yellow cloth binding with illustration to the front board in red and black. The spine and front board are lettered in black. A little darkening to spine but overall a better than very good copy of this beautiful book. --- Originally published by Constable and Co in 1912, this is the first Hodder and Stoughton edition and it contains all of the illustrations from the earlier edition.
