About This Item

A wonderful first printing of the first UK edition [Hodder & Stoughton London (1982)]. Winner of the 1982 Booker Prize and subsequently adapted into a successful film, this book is signed by author Thomas Keneally on a publisher's bookplate affixed to the front free end paper. The book is in very fine condition with no remainder marks, no bumped corners, a tight and square binding, with no owner inscriptions or highlighting and no staining or marking. The dust jacket is the first issue, without mention of the Booker, and is in near fine condition. It has very slight fading of the red on the spine, else fine. The jacket is not price-clipped (£7.95 ), has no creases, chips or tears and absolutely minimal shelf wear. It is now protected by an archival cover which is easily removable, with no tape or adhesive used. Please do not hesitate to contact us for further information.

Synopsis

Thomas Keneally, born in 1935, is an Australian novelist, playwright and author of  non-fiction. This powerful, harrowing novel, Schindler’s Ark , won the Man Booker prize in 1982. The historical novel is told in a narrative, past tense style and recreates the true story of Oskar Schindler, the Czech-born southern German industrialist who risked his life to save over 1,100 of his beleaguered Jewish factory workers from the death camps in Nazi-occupied Poland. This magnificent, moving book is impressively detailed and brilliantly written.
