Cambridge MA: Science Co, 1885. First Edition. Three-quarter Leather. Good. An ex-library volume with markings to the endpapers, contents page and the the reverse of various plates. No editorial material obviously missing but this cannot be guaranteed. Bound weekly issues of leading periodical of the day. Single volume containing 25 issues without wraps and advertisement. Quarto, 10" tall, 579 pages plus contents and index, b&w illustrations and several foldout maps; three-quarter leather and marbled boards. A good clean volume, with significant shelf wear, rubbing and chipping, at all edges, hinges broken, paper moderately yellowed and becomeing fragile. Maps are fragile and splitting at the folds. It was the the common practice of publishers at this time to issue annual bound volumes of editorial material for library reference. Packed with articles on everything from nebulas to Egyptian temples.
