Edinburgh: Archibald Constable and Co. , 1821. Ten (10) volumes. Full early 20th century diced blue calf leather binding with gilt line border on covers. Spines have four flat raisedbands with gilt designs on the bands. All volumes have two maroon leather labels with the series titled in gilt on the top label. The bottom label has volume number and major poem(s) in gilt letters. Blind stamped design in other compartments. All edges of covers have rolled design in leather. Grey endsheets with heraldic bookplate behind front cover. Titles pages each have vinette. Title pages notably foxed, sporadic foxing elsewhere with most other pages & plates generally clean and unfoxed. These volumes are in EXCELLENT condition and would make an excellent gift for the Sir Walter Scott aficionado. Sir Walter Scott, 1st Baronet (15 August 1771 – 21 September 1832) was a prolific Scottish historical novelist and poet popular throughout Europe during his time. In some ways Scott was the first author to have a truly international career in his lifetime, with many contemporary readers all over Europe, Australia, and North America. His novels and poetry are still read, and many of his works remain classics of both English-language literature and specifically Scottish literature. Famous titles include Ivanhoe, Rob Roy, The Lady of the Lake, Waverley and The Heart of Midlothian. . Full Calf Leather. Near Fine. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Hardcover.
