Midland, Ontario: Midland, ON: Huronia Museum / Shore Girl Publications, 2008, 1st Edition, First Printing, 2008. -----------softcover, a Near Fine example, looks new and is likely unread, one very small nick on the front blank endpaper, SIGNED without inscription by the author, 268 pages, b&w photos, ---"I grew up in a Sea Cadet Camp on Minnicognashene Island, up the shore on Georgian Bay. The island was my familys full time home from 1943 until 1953. When I began to realize in recent years that few people remembered the existence of the Sea Cadet camps on Georgian Bay, established because Canada was at war, I felt it important to tell their story. I wanted Canadians to know about and remember that time in our history and to know about the young men who were out on those islands practicing skills to make them better sailors for faraway war. Their experience on Georgian Bay and their association with the Sea Cadet Corps that sent them to these summer camps enhanced and expanded their lives at an impressionable age. I also wanted Canadians to learn of a way of life on the shore, gone now, that Frank and Nita Rourke had grown up in and were able to continue on Minnicogashene.
