Between 1947 and 1968, the English publisher Rupert Hart-Davis published The Mariner's Library. The library is 47 'salt-water' books, all related to sailing, adventure and exploration. Most are true stories.

I have 21 left, which I have posted individually. You can find them all under 'Maritime, Ships, Boats.'

If you'd like more than one at a reduced price, please message me.

The original owner collected the set and had the dust jackets professionally wrapped/laminated.

All of the books are the same: 5" x 7 1/2". Light blue boards. Unless otherwise noted, none of them have any shelfwear or dogears, and most have the darkening of the paper that you would expect. Unless otherwise noted, all have maps and/or photos and/or drawings. Unless otherwise noted, they appear to have been read once and are in pristine condition.

This one is Number 41: THE SEA IS FOR SAILING, by the British yachtsman and doctor Peter Pye (1902-1966). It was originally published in 1957.

In the early 1930s, Pye and his wife bought a 30 ft fishing boat for £25. They converted the boat, which had been built in 1896, to a sea-going cutter, named her Moonraker of Fowey, and spent the next 20 years sailing her around the world and writing about each voyage. This book takes Moonraker from Fowey to the Caribbean, through the Panama Canal, to the Marquesas and Hawaii, to British Columbia, and back to the UK. It is called "A classic. Just the right blend of sailing detail and information, local scenery and human interaction"

This copy is the 2nd printing, Mariner's Library first edition, printed in 1960. 192 pages.

Dust jacket is price-clipped and laminated to the cover. The original owner has put a decorative stamp on the front endpaper.

Otherwise perfect condition.
