About This Item
Edingburgh: Paul Harris Publishing, 1980. Bound in the publishers fine weave blue cloth boards with bold gilt title lettering to spine. This is the first impression of the first edition of this remarkable story of Scottish banking at sea. Signed by William Groat to the front free endpaper. A tradition of Scottish banking has been the availability of its services not only in the towns and busy villages but also in the remote areas of the mainland and the islands. This fascinating book is certainly testament to that. The 96 pages remain in fresh, crisp condition and are tightly bound. Book sits solid and square with all hinges strong. Housed in the rather nautically designed dustwrapper with publishers printed price intact on front inside flap. The dustwrapper is near fine with no noticeable faults. Protected in a removable archival booksleeve to preserve its condition. Photographs of the book and the dustwrapper are available on request. A lovely copy throughout of an astonishing account of banking taken to the very remotest parts of the Scottish Isles. Signed Willie Groat to the front free endpaper with no further inscriptions.. Signed by Author. First Edition. Near Fine/Near Fine.
