London: Readers Library, 1926. Photoplay edition issued to coincide with the British release of the silent film of the classic London tale starring Milton Sills. Ownership signature and address and blindstamp. Very good lightly used copy in a bright dust jacket with a long tear across the front panel which has been repaired with tape on the interior, and with a couple of other tiny tears and chips and one 1/4” piece missing along the spine fold. The front panel is a color painting of Sills as Wolf Larsen stripped to waist steering his ship with the rear panel illustrated with a painting of the ship being tossed by rough seas. Scarce.
Synopsis
The Sea-Wolf is a 1904 psychological adventure novel by American writer Jack London about a literary critic and other survivors of an ocean collision who come under the dominance of Wolf Larsen, the powerful and amoral sea captain who rescues them. Its first printing of forty thousand copies were immediately sold out before publication on the strength of London's previous The Call of the Wild.
