Signed first edition of A Season on the Reservation by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, with an inscription to the former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Colin Powell.. Octavo, 209pp. Cream hardcover, title in gilt on spine. Stated "First Edition" on copyright page, with full number line. Solid text block, lightly bumped edges, a near fine example. In the publisher's dust jacket, $24.00 retail price on front flap, a fine example. Inscribed on a front flyleaf, "General Powell / I hope you enjoy this effort / All the best! Kareem 1/2000." Both Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Colin Powell were featured speakers at Peter Lowe's "Success 1996" seminar. Since that time, Abdul-Jabbar has consistently referenced General Powell as an inspiration for his philanthropic work. In June of 2000, Abdul-Jabbar stated his inspiration for A Season on the Reservation came from "Colin Powell's call to give back to the community.
