Carlo Suarès (1892–1976) was a French writer, painter and Kabbalah author. He was born in Alexandria, Egypt of a very old Sephardi family that arrived in Spain probably with the Arab conquest. The ancestors of his Sephardi Jewish family had been expelled from Spain in 1492 during the Inquisition and found refuge in Tuscany, Italy before emigrating to and settling in Egypt in the 18th century. Expelled from Egypt and dispossessed, he settled in Paris and became a French Citizen. In 1945, Suarès began in earnest to expound his Kabbalistic insights; among his more notable works are: Critique de la Raison Impure, La Kabale des Kabales, De Quelques Apprentis-Sorciers, and the Qabala Trilogy: The Cipher of Genesis, The Song of Songs, and The Sepher Yetzira. As a writer and philosopher he spent forty years studying and expounding on the Qabala. Beginning with a discussion of the pitfalls that the Bible and other holy scriptures have suffered during centuries of mistranslation, Suares presents the code by whiche the Bible can be deciphered so that we can better understand its revelations. He untanlges much of the text that has led people to fear and blind submission rather than true faith. Much of this is accomplished through his discussion of the relationship between Reb YHSHWH and Peter. Suares also presents eight propositions that can bring us closer to Reb YHSHWH. He includes a discussion of Gnosticism and Docetism, examing in particular G. R. S. Mead's The Hymn of Jesus and The Vision of The Cross. Suares concludes with meditations on The Gospels According to Thomas, which he believes to be the text that most convincingly proves the extratemporal origin of the Rabbi's consciousness. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; xxi, 225 pages .
