An excellent, comprehensive study of the salmon and the techniques, from basic to advanced, used to catch him. One of the major figures in American fly fishing, the dry flies and nymphs Hewitt invented are widely used, and in this work he explores the question of tackle with characteristic expertise. The book is dedicated to the great angler Ambrose Monell, "The best of friends, a prince among men, and the best salmon fisherman I ever met."
