About This Item

Victoria: National Gallery of Australia, 2002.. 1st edition. Especially commisioned for the centenary of the birth of Aboriginal (Western Aranda) artist Albert Namatjira. After the success of his first soiki exhibition in Melbourne in 1938, Namatjira increasingly became 'public property'. But by the beginning of the new millennium he became a 'scapegpat' of both the social policies of the time and aesthetic prejudices, his art virtually ignored by the mainstream of the Australian art world. This publication seeks to redress this neglect. 29cms x 24cms x 1.5cms. Pp.x/166, many colour illustrations throughout. Softcover. VG.
