Edward Chace Tolman founded what is now a branch of psychology known as purposive behaviorism. He was also known for his resistance to the McCarthy-era "loyalty oath" because it infringed on academic freedom. A court case that bears his name caused the California Supreme Court overturned the loyalty oath and caused all those who were fired for refusing to sign it to be reinstated. . First Edition. Cloth.
