About This Item

Solutive, Barthelemy. ( ) Les Sept Trompetes Pour Reveillf (e) r Les Pecheurs, et les Induire a Faire Penitence. Composees par le R.P. Barthelemy Solutive, Frere Recolet. ET traduites de l'Italien en François. Par le R.P. Charles Jouye Religieux du même Ordre. Nouvellement corrigees, & mises en meilleur Francois. Par Mr. Le Blanc, Pretre. Rouen: Chez Jean-b. Besongne, rue Ecuyere, au Soleil Royal, 1715

Bartolommeo Cambi da Saluzz O.F.M.Recol., 1557-1617; Jean Besongne was mostly a publisher of religious works and government documents. Apparently obtaining the type set of an older printing house, he recast the earlier 1616 edition.

Duodecimo, 5.75 x 3.25 in. A12, A-Q12. This copy is fairly good condition internally. It is bound in contemporary limp parchment. The bookplate of the Maison des Oiseaux is pasted inside the front cover. A rare and difficult work to find as the subject, author remain obscure. Typeset and engravings hark back to the 17th century, suggesting that the printer did not have the most up to date facility and probably printed few of this edition. First printed in 1616 in French. This edition is quite rare.

The Seven Trumpets to awaken the sinners and induce them to penitence. Translated from the Italian into François by Charles Jouve. Rouen, Jean-b Besongne, (1715), in-12, supple vellum, smooth back, speckled slices of red (Binding of the time).

The Couvent des Oiseaux , located 84 rue de Sèvres in Paris 1 , was a mansion used as a prison during the Terror during the French Revolution , then a boarding school for girls from 1818 to 1904. 1597, Pierre Fourier met Alix the Cleric. Born in Remiremont in 1576, she heard the inner call to convert her life, then to found "a new home ... to practice all the good that one could". Three companions join her.Pierre Fourier offers them to work on girls' education. In 1598, opens in Poussay, near Mattaincourt, the first school of Lorraine, free, for the girls.
