New York: Thomas Y. Crowell & Co., 1888. This volume contains two of Tolstoi's works: the "Authorized Edition" of "Sevastopol," (translation by isabel F. Hapgood) and the "Authorized Translation" of "The Cossacks" (translation by Nathan Haskell Dole) bound together. Uncommon. A Near Fine copy of the First American Edition. Navy blue cloth binding with gilt titling on spine and front cover. The cover has the Russian double eagle in gilt. Clean text; 262 pages and 350 pages. Decorative endpapers; there is a list of Tolstoi's works opposite the Title Page. Previous-owner label on the FPD; different previous-owner signature on reverse of the FFEP. Tiny bit of rub, small black spot on front cover; gilt on spine somewhat dulled. Really quite a nice copy. In an archival plastic protector.. First American Edition.. Hard Cover. Near Fine/No Jacket. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.
