Illustrated end pages, showing an early print of the city of Sevilla. The text is illustrated with black-and-white illustrations and black-and-white photography taken by Robert Vavra. Red coloured boards with gilt coloured embossed titles to the front panel and backstrip. Colour photographic dustwrapper (wraparound), again taken by Robert Vavra, with black coloured titles to the front panel and backstrip. A dual biography, of sorts, of Carmen and of Seville. The first part of the book is a photographic essay of the ancient city of Seville and its people. The second part of the book is the history and the plot of the Opera Carmen both sections photographed by Robert Vavra. Minor rubbing to the backstrip corners and book corners.
