About This Item

(Boston): Anne and David Bromer, 1986. Hood, Derek. (15), (15)ff. From an edition of 160 copies, bound together here are one of the thirty-five deluxe copies with hand-illuminated initials in gold and colors by Suzanne Moore, and one of the 125 regular copies. Both are A.P. copies, indicated in Moore's calligraphy on the colophon page. This is the first miniature printing of this lyric, which was attributed to Shakespeare by an American scholar studying in England. Printed at the Firefly Press and bound in a jeweled designer binding by Derek Hood. The design revolves around cubist question marks on mirrored, opposing faces. Covered in fully navy goatskin with onlays of mid-blue and gold leather, which were hand-gilded four times in leaf. Endpapers are leather-jointed with silk and Japanese Kozo doublures. Twenty garnets are inset into the binding, and the tooling is executed in palladium. Housed in a casket-style box with gold and palladium tooling on the top of the lid, surrounding a bezel-set garnet that nicely complements the overall design. A.e.g. (Bromer, pp. 44-47). (2 7/16 by 1 5/8; 62x40mm).
