About This Item
New York: Signet - New American Library, 1978. Stated First Signet Printing, January, 1978; numberline beginning w/21. Signet number E-9216. Signed and inscribed by Stephen King at title page: "For Andrea - Best - and shine on! Stephen King 9/23/80." Rare early signature and inscription near contemporaneous with the origination of this title and the height of SK's early fame. Original classic cover design with bold black titles over yellow b.g. with horrified face in big letter "T." Back cover features movie poster-like credits and blurbs. Moderate cover, corner, edge wear, crease, rub, discoloration. Pages very good; attractive toning. Interestingly, final page of photos falls adjacent to page 237; a room number that has gained notoriety from the Stanley Kubrick adaptation. Original yellow exterior text block. Bind good, square. Solid signed early printing. From cover: "The masterpiece of modern horror - now a Stanley Kubrick film from Warner Bros. starring Jack Nicholson and Shelley Duvall." The Overlook Hotel claimed the most beautiful setting of any resort in the world, but the Torrance family saw much more than its splendor. Danny, blessed or cursed with a shining, precognitive gift sees visions hideously beyond the comprehension of a small boy. Printed in the U.S.A. 447 pages. Insured post.. Signed by Author. First Edition. Paperback. Good. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. Book.
