About This Item

1924. TADAICHI, Hayashi. Shonen Teito Fukko Sugoroku. 55 x 79 cm. Tokyo: N.P., 1924. A wonderful example of a sugoroku, a popular Japanese board game. This particular one was issued just after the great earthquake of 1923, and is in the form of an imaginative reconstruction of Tokyo. The result is an unusual document, part science fiction and part town planning.
