Movie tie-in edition for Goodis's 1956 novel Down There, in which an alcoholic former concert pianist plays piano in a sleazy bar, and becomes entangled with criminals who ultimately murder his girlfriend. Basis for François Truffaut's 1960 film noir Tirez sur le Pianiste, starring Charles Aznavour. HUBIN, p.173.
