About This Item

Sampson Low, Marston & Co, 1901. First edition. Paperback. Good. This is probably the first significant biography of Francis Light, the founder of British interests in Penang and of his son, William, who went on to set up a British colony in Adelaide, Australia. Steuart was not only able to collect information from hearsay and a few public records but also had access to the journals of both men. 146 pages including an index. Weight 0.40 Kg. . Postage within Malaysia is free The cover is virtually unblemished except for some wear at the top and base of the spine. The first gathering, i.e. the first ten pages, have come loose but could probably easily be sewn back in again. The rest of the binding is tight. The three black and white plates are all present.
