About This Item

New York: P.F. Collier & Son, 1905. This handsome set of American short stories contains work by prominent 19th Century authors, many of whom, like Booth Tarkington, still had many years of productivity before them in the new century. These books include both title and author indexes in the fifth volume. The pages are consecutively numbered for a total of 1758 pages. The five books are bound in an olive-green cloth with top-edge green stain, and checkered black and gilt borders on front panels and spines. The books have light rubbing at the extremities and some spine darkening. The interiors are clean and bright, with solid hinges. The books includes frontis and other photographic portraits of various writers, such as Henry James or Bret Harte, with facsimile signatures. Each book measures 5 3/4 by 8 1/4 inches. Extra postage will be required for this set, based on weight. . Hard Cover. Very Good+/No Dust Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
