Condition: See description

Np/np/nd. Oblong Quarto. Accordion fold binding with 11 prints of couples making love in a variety of positions and a variety of locations. Each print is backed by thicker paper with reinforced edges. Blue brocade covers and decorated endpapers. A Japanese "enpon" album of "shunga" erotic woodblock prints, each depicting a male/female couple in traditional Japanese dress. The definitive study of shunga in the Edo period is: Japanese Erotic Fantasies; Sexual Imagery of the Edo Period (Amsterdam: Hotei Publishing, 2005 p. 157-158). Silk has wear around the edges, a few small early wormhole repairs to outer margins not affecting illustrations, some finger soiling.
