After the war, a visit to the Tretyakov Gallery inspired a shift in his career path towards art. Belykh honed his skills at the Hammer and Sickle plant's studio for amateur artists and contributed to the design of the House of Officers of the Moscow Military District. His formal art education culminated at the Moscow State Art Institute named after V.I. Surikov, graduating in 1952. A member of the Union of Artists of the USSR since 1960, Belykh's artistic focus was predominantly on landscapes, celebrating the nature of the Central Russian region and the architectural heritage of Kostroma.
