Pamphlet was at one time folded down the middle affecting both wraps and text block. Gray wraps have moderate soiling, minor chipping to front wrap, a 2 inch tear along the spine and a 1.75 inch tear on the rear wrap. Good condition.

William Butler Ogden was one of Chicago's richest citizens and served as the city's first mayor from 1837-38. This copy is signed and inscribed by Ogden on the title page. There is also a tipped in amendment sheet (a few sentences long) on page 36 and a manuscript annotation on page 37.
