Hardcover is half-bound in tan leather with blue-green, cream, and gold marbled paper-covered boards. Spine has five raised bands; four spine panels have gilt floral device. The other two panels have dark brown leather labels with gilt lettering: Upper label: Geo. Eliot's Works, lower label: Silas Marner Etc. Top page edges gilt. Marbled endpapers. Tissued frontispiece; three additional black and white plates. Binding tight. Hinges NOT cracked. Leather is in good condition, with some crackle and rubbing to edges and corners; partial loss of leather surface at the top eighth inch of the spine. Pages lightly and uniformly tanned but still supple. Two pages have diagonal creases at bottom corner. Pages clean and unmarked. Stories independently paginated (651 pages total). Title page has series name "Burt's Library of the World's Best Books" in a small illustrated medallion. No dust jacket.
