About This Item
38 page saddle stapled 5 1/2 x 8 booklet, a souvenir from a meeting of the JASNA in Richmond, Virginia in 1996, where this play was first performed. 'Sir Charles Grandison or The Happy Man' was long thought to have been written by Jane's niece, Anna Austen, but Brian Southam maintained that Jane Austen wrote it when the manuscript was published in 1980. This version has addition material by Joyce and Kemp, which imagines the Austen family creating and performing the play.
