An exquisite botanical image by Pancrace Bessa, one of France's foremost botanical artists of the 19th century, engraved by Barrois for "Flore des Jardiniers, Amateurs, et Manufacturiers . . . d'apres les Dessins de Bessa". At lower left in tiny italics are noted the country of origin of the plant (Mexico) and date of flowering (summer). .
