London, 1712-1735. Quarter Leather. Fair. Multiple paginations. 17 cm. 4 engraved plates as well as title vignettes, headpieces and tailpieces. Quarter leather with marbled paper boards. Front board and endpapers detached and rear hinge cracked. Spine head chipped, corners worn. Ink signature on front pastedown. Some foxing and darkening.
Contains 6 plays, all of which were printed separately at various times, a mixture of tragedies and comedies: The Persian Princess: Or, The Royal Villain, by Mr. Theobald (Jonas Brown, London, 1715); Love makes a Man; Or, The Fop's Fortune, by Colley Cibber (A. Bettesworth et al, London); Love's Last Shift: Or, The Fool in Fashion, by Cibber (W. Feales et al, London, 1735); She Would, and She Would Not, Or, The Kind Impostor, by Cibber (W. Mears et al, London 1717, Third edition); The Tender Husband: Or, The Accomplished Fools, by Richard Steele (Jacob Tonson, London, 1735); The Funeral: Or, Grief A-la-mode (Richard Steele, 1712). At the end of the first play is a 10 p. advertising section from Brown.
