Book has noticeable forward lean, with heavy tanning overall.

Born in Colchester Essex in 1881 the son of a builder he was schooled initially at The Grange Folkestone and sequentially Winchester and Christ Church Oxford. His career was in teaching and he held posts at Bradfield and Charterhouse. The copy offered has a signed letter loosely laid in from the author addressed to the previous owner of the book together with errata slip which the later has acted upon by making the corrections in ink).
